Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Purpose

This MOU outlines the responsibilities and expectations of both parrties in supporting community projects funded through the Causeway platform. The goal is to ensure compliances, transparency, and smooth disbursement of donor funds.

1. Roles & Responsibilities

​

Causeway agrees to:

​

• Host and promote community-based projects submitted by non-profit organizations or grassroots groups.

• Provide fiscal sponsor matching services when needed.

• Clearly display all associated fees on project listings.

• Collect and disburse funds to the fiscal sponsor after fees are deducted.

• Offer basic donor reporting tools.

The Fiscal Sponsor agrees to:

​

• Receive donated funds on behalf of approved projects.

• Issue charitable tax receipts in compliance with CRA regulations.

• Hold and disburse funds to the project group according to hte project's approved budget and schedule.

• Maintain oversight and basic financial records for compliance purposes.

• Notify Causeway of any concerns or changes in project status.

2. Fees

​

The fiscal sponsor may change an administrative fee between 5-10% of disbursed funds. This fee will be clearly disclosed on the Causeway platform for each project.

​

3. Term & Termination

​

This MOU remains in effect until terminated by either party with 30 days; written notice. Projects in progress will be honoued through the completion unless otherwise agreed.

4. Confidentiality

 

Both parties agree to maintain confidentiality of donor information and comply with applicable privacy laws.

 

 

5. No Legal Partnership

 

 

This MOU does not create a legal partnership or joint venture between the parrties.
